No matter your opinion on Iggy Azalea, her new mixtape shows she is a force to be reckoned with. The Australian rapper has gained a lot of backlash from her female peers recently but refuses to let it interfere with her music. With tracks like “My World” and “Pu$$y” receiving an overwhelming amount of buzz around the web in the past year, Iggy’s popularity has been building in preparation of her upcoming debut. To tide her fans over Iggy released Trap Gold, featuring production by some of my favorite Mad Decent producers including Diplo, FKi, Flosstradamus, & Bro Safari. One track even features the trippy mane himself, Juicy J. You can download the entire mixtape here.
Several months ago when I first heard Major Lazer was producing a track with No Doubt I just about sharded myself. No Doubt has been on hiatus for over a decade, endlessly pushing back their much anticipated return. On top of that, Major Lazer’s main front man Diplo is my absolute hands down favorite producer, DJ, artist, businessman, etc…you name it! After hearing the first few singles off of No Doubt’s new album, I’d say all that waiting has paid off. With No Doubt and Major Lazer’s Dancehall backgrounds, the track works perfectly. Throw in some vocals from Busy Signal and you’re good to go. This is the title track off of No Doubt’s new album, set for release on September 25th.
Diplo has blown my mind again. Best music video of the year. Ladies take notes because this that shit I DO LIKE!
Oh and i guess the song is pretty tight too?
So if i could get any 3 artists together to make me a mix that i could play every day to party to, chill with, get drunk to, get high to, or make a room full of people incredibly happy with; the artists would be Diplo, German-duo Schlachthofbronx and trap young gun Baauer. Low and behold mountainous achievements of glory!!! They’ve made that mix for me, well not for me , but for everyone through BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Diplo and Friends show. The show is put on by Diplo to garner attention towards exciting new artists coming up in the game. Last night the two artists Diplo chose to accompany him for a monstrous 2-hour mix were German Dancehall duo Schlachthofbronx and Trap-star young gun Baauer. Both artists were recently signed on to Diplo’s Maddecent Records. This mix has everything in it from some Moombahcore to hardcore Electro, to Trap and Dancehall. So hunker down with your poison of choice and bathe your ears in something truly special. Follow this link to listen to the entire mix for free, as BBC won’t release the mix for download until later next week probably.
Moombahton… This genre has been pervading the internet noticeably for about a year now. Some of it has been half assed attempts at glory in a new type of music, namely they suck.. However some have hit it on the head with a hammer. Moombahton, from what I have experienced, is dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty. Those that have mastered the formula and developed Moombahton have taken the dirtiness and muddled nature of the crazy sounds a computer can make, and created music with a bass line that’s irresistible to move to. More than that they make it down right fun, something that is making me want to stop typing and rage right at this moment. Can’t resist but to holla’ sorry: Diplo at Red Rocks in the summer = DANCE BITCH!!! Speaking of which I think the same thing would happen if, Steve Lind under his DJ name Spenda C, an Australian Moombahton/Moombahcore/Moombahbounce/Moombahrave/Trap producer, came to the Colorado and raged at Red Rocks with us. He throws down dirty yes, but this isn’t go fall asleep music at all, its the perfect solution to people wanting to have a raging party but can’t get their lazy ass friends off the couch and involved in the party. Just turn on Spenda C.
Oh and the Don’t believe me about the Red Rocks thing? Hopefully not if you were there but just in case check out this video of Diplo dropping Spenda C’s remix of Rattle by Bingo Players. Oh ya it’s not sideways sorry. Was I fucked up? At least you can see hands everywhere.
Yes Similar to the uprising of the glorious, face melting genre ‘Dubstep’, I believe there will be a Grammy category under the label Moombahton in the near future. Then listen so you can say you knew it was going to happen all along.
What happened 8 years ago? Let’s see…I was entering the summer of my first year of middle school; where girls had yet to rid themselves of koodies no matter how hard we tried to beat it out of them, Runescape was the Swagga-jackin’ way to rule the popularity circles, and the unknown Florida native Diplo was releasing a solo album. And now, 8 years later, the master of genre-mixing has finally released the date for Express Yourself. June 12th, mark the calendar, as that day will be one mighty crunk one. To celebrate the announcement Mr. Diplo has released his collaboration with the Storm Trooper helmetted Vermont natives, Lazerdisc Party Sex. This track will surely make you wanna pop that ass like it’s somethin’ on fire! So take a listen and head over to Maddecent.com to check out the rest of the tracks off the upcoming Express Yourself album!
