TYR returns with another free remix, this being the third remix of Electronic music king Moby. This time we hear a bass ridden re-fix of his most popular “Natural Blues”.
The first remix last summer was supported by Moby himself, we expect the same with this one. Enjoy!
Sigur Rós is an Icelandic ambient/post-rock band from Reykjavík, Iceland. The band regularly plays the major festivals around the world and rarely tours single venues as acoustic perfection is necessary for all of their sets.
Starting up in 1994, the band gained international fame with the track “Sæglópur” meaning “Lost at Sea”. Their music is the most progressive and unique of any modern rock band and this has gained them a cult like following worldwide.
April 6th they arrive in Colorado and take over the 1stBank Center. Tickets are still available but will sell out VERY soon so get them NOW.
2012 was an amazing year filled with some life changing experiences and an apocalypse scare. Out of all the activities going on in Denver for NYE, we absolutely had to check out Decadence to spend the evening with some of our favorite artists. After a leisurely ride on the RTD from Boulder and a brisk walk down 16th Street Mall during the fireworks show, our crew finally arrived at the Convention Center. I’ve been to the Convention Center before, but never for a concert. If I recall correctly the last time I was there was in middle school at an RV show out of all things. As a concert venue, the Convention Center provides a ginormous space, housing two stages in the same room! My homie Brandon and I quickly made our way through the guest list line and raced upstairs.
Arriving in the nick of time, we decided to catch Wolfgang Gartner first at the Global Dance Arena, hosted by Triad Dragons. We took in his set from VIP where balconies were set up on both sides of the floor crowd, giving us a nice view of everything. We were met by an awesome stage set up, complete with lasers and sexy curtain dancers. As always, Wolfgang’s set was filled with energy, playing his signature electro style that only Wolfgang can produce. Though he doesn’t stray far from his material when he plays shows, everyone went nuts when he dropped favorites like “Shrunken Heads” and “The Devil’s Den.” Towards the end of his set the bigger portion of our group finally showed up and we migrated to the Global Dub Arena, eager to hear some FLOSSTRADAMUS!!!
Out of all the artists playing that evening, I was undeniably the most excited for Flosstradamus. The trap stars blow my mind every time I see them and the X EP Series was definitely one of my favorite releases of the year. Unfortunately only one of the members showed up because the other was playing a NYE show somewhere else, but this aspect changed nothing about the quality of their set. Floss plays some of the trillest stuff you’ve ever heard, opening with “Lana’s Theme” (as is tradition) and moving on to some of my personal favorites like “Deaf” and “Hood Fantasy.” A constant bombardment of strobes at every Floss show also adds to the intensity of their sets. The high point of the hour for me came when Floss mixed “Mercy” with a trappy version of “Sandstorm.” Needless to say, I was absolutely devastated when their set ended…but it was time to make our way to Krewella.
For Krewella we posted up right under the balloons and the giant trippy ass chandelier, in preparation for midnight. The trio had just come from playing Lights All Night in Dallas to rage with us. I’ve noticed that Krewella has rapidly become a crowd favorite, which doesn’t come as a surprise, they know how to put on a show. Time went by in a flash during their set, I always find Krewella really interactive with their audience which certainly adds to their appeal. Some of my favorite songs of the hour included “Killin’ It” and “Fire Hive.” The ladies even put on a brief stage performance this time which was a nice surprise. With such sexy ladies in the group it’s a shame to see them behind the DJ booth the whole time! They ended right before midnight so we hung out for a little bit to see the countdown, complete with a massive balloon drop.
We said goodbye to 2012 and welcomed 2013 as we migrated stages to catch the last few minutes of Mimosa, in preparation for Zeds Dead. Though I only caught the last bit of it, I was impressed by Mimosa’s incredibly deep vibe. I’ve seen him a couple times before and he always manages to craft distinct varying sets, which is one of the things I like the most about him. As Mimosa ended, I could tell everyone was dying of anticipation for Zeds Dead. Definite Colorado favorites, the duo was met with a proper welcome. When Zeds Dead plays I always expect an extreme and satisfying amount of BASS, and I was not disappointed. I loved every minute of their set and absolutely lost it when they dropped my jam, “Undah Yuh Skirt,” and their remix of the legendary “Breathe,” by Prodigy. Everything they played was boner worthy (yes I just wrote that), but the definite highlight of my night came when they dropped a remix of one of my favorite tracks of all time, “Bandz A Make Her Dance.” This remix featured a perfect sample of the “ratchet pussy” line from the song and I’m depressed that I still can’t find a download for it. I’ve included a video of it for your viewing pleasure.
As the night started to wind down, our crew was sad that Decadence had finally come to a close. The evening went by in a flash because we were having so much fun! Decadence was the perfect way to ring in the new year and we can’t wait for Decadence 2013!
Another great artist here in Denver is an up-and-comer who goes by Late Night Radio. He’s got a knack for creating some quality tunes that have a timeless characteristic. His true love and overall appreciation for every aspect of music is evident in his tendency to draw elements from so many different styles of it.
He just put out his first official release, the Concrete Collage EP, which is a compilation of seven soulful tracks that flow together beautifully.
The 2011 debut of Decadence NYE was a spectacular success with over eleven-thousand in attendance – making it the largest single-day dance music event in Colorado history. This year, thousands of revelers will once again flock to the Colorado Convention Center – downtown Denver’s crown jewel – to ring in the New Year within two massive rooms adorned with exquisite décor, top-notch production, sensational entertainment and the top DJs in the world.
This year’s GLOBAL DANCE ARENA – hosted by Triad Dragons Entertainment – will feature performances from ATB, WOLFGANG GARTNER, KREWELLA, RUDEE and ECOTEK. Germany’s Andre Tanneberger, better known to the legions of trance lovers as ATB, will provide his unmistakable uplifting sounds, perfect for celebrating the last minutes of 2012. A highly sought-after producer in the EDM world, WOLFGANG GARTNER has churned out more than a handful of No. 1 hits on Beatport, as well as collaborations with heavy-hitters like Deadmau5, Skrillex and Tiesto. Known for his high-energy sets, electro lovers will not be disappointed. Gaining attention rapidly in the last year, the trio known as KREWELLA really knows how to work the dance-floor into a frenzy, getting the crowd “wet” with their perfect combination of heavy production and sugary vocals. Newcomer, RUDEE, will join the all-star lineup, along with Denver’s own ECOTEK.
Returning to the American bass music epicenter for a last hurrah of 2012 in the GLOBAL DUB ARENA – hosted by Sub.Mission – are ZEDS DEAD and MIMOSA. The Canadian duo of DC & Hooks, or ZEDS DEAD, have certainly made a name for themselves in the world of bass music. Known for their mind blowing live sets combining everything from dubstep and electro to glitch and hip hop, this performance will be an ideal way to ring in the new year. Selling out shows repeatedly with each visit to Colorado, MIMOSA’s varying innovative style accompanied by his undeniable stage presence make his set a must see for NYE. Chicago’s riot inducing duo known as FLOSSTRADAMUS have been destroying the trap music scene that is taking over North America recently. With a strobe filled twerk instigating set to match, be sure not to miss this performance. The diversity of this year’s Global Dub Arena lineup continues with performances from Pretty Lights Music artist and electro hip-hop extraordinaire, PAUL BASIC, as well as drum and bass main-stay, FURY.
